According to a statement from MP Construction, the money was raised during the Standing Up Against Cancer dinner comedy show held recently at the Riverview Bistro Restaurant in Stratford.
“It was a fun night of laughter, which is a great way to temporarily forget about the pains and heartache associated with cancer,” said Maurizio Paniccia, owner of MP Construction. “At the same time, we raised money to help bring an end to cancer.”
While Paniccia and a committee of volunteers have been organizing an annual Cancer Society fundraiser for the past decade, this year's event was the first centered on comedy, according to the statement.
Held in conjunction with the Treehouse Comedy Production's Funny 4 Funds program, the Riverview Bistro dinner show featured several Treehouse comedians, including Billy Winn, Max Colcelli and Rob Falcone.
